A village relocated by its landowner
In 1842 the landowner Henry Drummond shifted Albury roughly half a mile west of its medieval location, building a new parish church of St Peter and St Paul in red brick while the older Saxon-founded church was retained within the grounds of Albury Park. Albury Park's grounds are Grade I listed and were laid out in part to designs associated with the diarist John Evelyn.
On the Tillingbourne, below the Greensand Ridge
The River Tillingbourne runs through the heart of the village, and the wooded Greensand Ridge forms the northern edge of the parish, placing Albury firmly within the Surrey Hills National Landscape. A designated Albury Conservation Area covers the historic core around the two churches.

Council
Guildford Borough Council handles planning and building control at Albury, a different authority from Waverley Borough Council, which covers Cranleigh a short distance to the south.
