Part of Cranleigh's own parish
Rather than sitting in a different parish, Rowly falls within Cranleigh's own civil parish boundary, and day-to-day life here is closely tied to the village centre a short distance to the south.
Near the source of the Cranleigh Waters
The Cranleigh Waters, also known locally as the Bramley Wey, rises in the rural land north of Cranleigh around Rowly before flowing north towards Bramley and Wonersh on its way to join the River Wey. The Downs Link path, following the route of a former railway line, also passes close by.

Council
Local planning and building control at Rowly is handled by Waverley Borough Council, since the hamlet forms part of Cranleigh's own parish boundary.
