The highest village in the south-east
Leith Hill rises to 294 metres beside the village, generally described as the highest village in south-east England as a result, and the whole area sits within the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The route of the Roman road later known as Stane Street runs below the village along the hill's flank.
A scatter of cottages
Coldharbour is made up of a loose scatter of brick, stone and tile-hung cottages rather than a compact centre, with Christ Church, built to serve the village, dating from the mid-nineteenth century. There has been settlement in the area since Roman times, though today's houses are mostly Victorian or later.
